Portraits
True identity eludes capture in a single snapshot. We perform for the camera as we do in life, revealing only fragments of ourselves – elusive, capricious and as intricate as our myriad emotions. Even with the sincerest intentions, a photograph can only portray a facet of our identity or the persona we choose to project at that instant. For me, the point of portraiture lies in the dynamic relationship I have with the people I photograph. The spontaneity of the here and now, digitally imprinted with the click of a shutter. In these instances of connection, the camera allows us fleeting glimpses of the human spirit.
